The DuoCore mattress has been independently tested by a certified test laboratory in Australia and it passes the AS/NZS 8811.1:2013 Test for Firmness. Both the Baby Side and the Toddler Side have been tested. Mattresses in Australia are not required to meet this standard by law. It is a voluntary standard that has been developed to provide consumers with extra information in relation to the safety of their mattress. This test involves checking how far a baby sinks into the mattress. If it sinks below the recommendation, it is unsafe and does not pass the test. However, Babyrest believes that safety does not have to be at the expense of comfort. Therefore, the DuoCore was developed to provide the right balance of support and comfort. Support, meaning that it is firm enough for your baby’s safety and provides the correct support for the development of your baby. Comfort, meaning it provides the right surface for your baby to have comfortable sleep. Many mattresses in Australia would pass the firmness test, but they don’t provide the level of comfort your baby deserves.
